Old vs. New Workspace and some weird stuff on the bench!

A thread on the Clubhouse forum prompted me to finally post these pictures.  A view into the not-so glamorous workstation I call my own.  I've seen some pretty nice layouts.  I tend to work off of junky furniture though because I tend to trash it while I'm working!  One desk I have is the same one I used to build my plastic models on as a kid.  I remember every paint stain.
First, let me share with you what I was working in just a few weeks ago.  My new area is lavish compared to this.
We all joke about our "dungeons", but check this out.  This was what it was like when I moved in.  And to be moving into this from a pretty nice and large work area I had set up for almost 10 years was kind of daunting...

So here's the scary stairs to the basement.  What you can't see is right at the bottom where you would crack your skull unless you ducked.  And it didn't get much better from there...

You can almost see at the bottom how it "steps down".  But the majority of the basement, and that translates to where I worked and stored my kits and things, was about 5 feet 7 inches tall.

Now, I'm not very tall, but this made me feel so.  I thought that I might turn into a hunchback working down there.

Here's a better view of what I'm talking about.  This cuts around the corner to the area I set up shop in.  But first, this is what was left behind......

A little scary.
But even more scary, it fills up quick with all my junk!

Hardly what you might imagine.  And it got cold real quick down there.  It's just a limestone basement, over 100 years old.  The nice thing was being able to clamp lights wherever I needed them.
Thought those might help heat things up, but most of the time I wore a hat while working.  And winter hadn't even really started yet!

There was no ventilation down there, so I cut into the boarded up windows and vented a spray/dremel booth out (left) and put one of those floor vents in with the fan to let some air in.

Pretty sad, huh?  But before you get too depressed, this is my new and improved dungeon!

And this is only half the room!  The other half I can keep all my movies, the photography area, and a couch in case I'm too tired to make it upstairs!

Still the same crappy furniture stuff I work on.  Nothing fancy, but look..... what's that?

A WINDOW?  There's another one on the other wall too! Luxury!

I'm a little nervous about the carpet though.  Put an old rug down because, well, I'm just going to end up spilling some paint.  You know it.

And just what the hell is this stuff on my workbench?

I'm actually at this point about done with these two fellas.  Next up is a trio.

The Pit, the Pit, the Pit, and the Pendulum, Pendulum, and the Pendulum!

Thanks for indulging me with this long entry.  Hope you enjoyed it!

Looking good Thad! Atleast your going to have better ventilation there and lots of elbow room. Nice to see everything looking up bro! It was real nice seeing your work area and your photo set-up.
